X-ray Radiative Transfer Benchmark

For this Benchmark, the results of the ProDiMo X-ray radiative transfer are compared to the models presented in Ercolano & Glassgold (2013) in particular to the results of the MOCASSIN code. More details for the Benchmark can be found in Rab+ 2018. There also possible reasons for the differences between the two codes are discussed.

The input files and a script for plotting are included in the ProDiMo source distribution. See Benchmark_XRT.

Thermal X-ray input spectrum

Thermal5keV case with an X-ray luminosity of 1029erg/s10^{29}\,\mathrm{erg/s}. The left plot shows the X-ray ionisation rate for the whole disk structure. The right plot shows the X-ray ionisation rate at three different radii as a function of the vertical hydrogen column density, compared to the results of the MOCASSIN code.
